The Connect & Protect™ program from RAINS enables government agencies, schools and private sector organizations to share sensitive information before, during, and after emergencies. Leveraging the interoperability of RAINS-Net™ technology, Connect & Protect operates as a centrally managed, highly survivable, highly secure wide-area network, and as a data-based communications bridge for heterogeneous and geographically dispersed organizations. | |

Connect & Protect was launched with the first implementation of
RAINS-Net with Portland, Oregon’s 9-1-1 center in August 2003, and is
growing throughout the Portland Metro Region. The program is a scalable,
affordable model that can be deployed in any city or rural region in
America. It combines local command-and-control elements with highly
targeted, localized information distribution functions, but can also
support centralized information distribution at the federal level (e.g.,
national terrorism alerts).![]() Connect & Protect provides the ability to share sensitive information from an emergency operations center (EOC) to schools, emergency responders, critical infrastructure and other public safety stakeholders. |
