About>Overview RAINS is a non-profit, private/public partnership formed to accelerate development and deployment of innovative technology for homeland security. RAINS has forged partnerships with technology companies, research universities, critical infrastructure providers, federal, state, and local agencies, and first responders. This unique partnership has brought national attention to the growing homeland security and public safety issues. RAINS' Connect & Protect™ program is a highly secure operational network for alert notification and sensitive information sharing. The Connect & Protect Program is gaining momentum and national acclaim and was one of five finalists for the 2004 Mitretek Innovations Award in Homeland Security from the Ash Institute at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. RAINS is a real-world working model for trusted information exchange, supporting the government mandate to move from a "need to know" to "need to share" emergency communications framework.
